Two Fatal Accidents Kill Three
Within four hours and twelve miles of each other on Highway U.S. 264, two fatal wrecks took the lives of three people near Raleigh, NC last week.
The first wreck happened around 1pm, when Raleigh resident Chauncey Freeman crossed over the 80-foot median into oncoming traffic, colliding with a tractor-trailer driven by 56-year-old Ronnie Taylor, causing him to run into another tractor-trailer driven by 36-year-old Salim Otajagic.
Both tractor trailers ran off the road but the drivers only sustained minor injuries. It was raining, but that is not said to be the cause of the wreck.
Then, less than four hours later, 21-year-old Roxanne Swanner struck the vehicle she was trying to pass, spun out of control and was hit by a tractor-trailer killing her and her passenger, 29-year-old Santez Keys, on the scene. The driver of the car Swanner was trying to pass and the driver of the tractor trailer were not injured.
The heavy rain certainly could have played a role in this accident, according to State Highway Patrol Sgt. Kevin Shallington.
