Starbucks and Bodum USA Recall 28K Coffee Presses
Are you a regular coffee drinker? Make sure you’re up-to-date with one of the latest product recalls: According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Bodum USA has recalled upwards of 28,000 coffee presses sold exclusively at Starbucks.
The recall came Tuesday, after Bodum had received 14 reports of shattered coffee presses and 4 reports of injuries caused by the faulty product.
The product, sold exclusively at Starbucks stores and Starbucks online during November 2013 through December 2013, is called the Bodum® rose gold glass coffee press. The press, constructed out of metal, plastic and glass, features a glass carafe housed inside of a metal frame. Based on reports that Bodum has received, the glass carafe can easily fall out of the metal frame and plastic base, causing it to shatter, which poses the risk of laceration and burns to consumers.
Of the injuries reported thus far, two have been reported as burns and two have been reported as lacerations; all have been minor.
The SKU number for this product is #11029732 and may be found at the bottom of the press. If you purchased this particular coffee press at a Starbucks store, you may return it for a refund. If you purchased your product online, you may contact Bodum for a pre-paid return label to return your coffee press for a full return. The company has suggested that consumers stop using the press immediately.
