A man was injured while working at a Fuquay-Varina waste water treatment plant after getting trapped 15 feet underground.
Plant employee Dan Hackney was replacing equipment underground when he got his leg caught in the machinery. Other workers with him were not injured and went for help. Rescuers freed the man around 10:30am and took him immediately to the hospital.
An initial report said that his foot had been lost in the accident, but there have no reports from the hospital to confirm that injury. He was listed in good condition, however. In cases like these it’s extremely important for those involved to understand their rights and the process for a workers’ compensation claim.
